Unless of course, the steering wheel is sometimes on the right. I wouldn't know. I've always been more to the left.

News
BBC World News, yesterday morning: Did I really hear this? --In countries such as Sweden and Britain, where cars on the highway drive on the left-hand side of the road, oddly enough, the steering wheels are also on the left.-- I'm thinking, Now does that statement make any sense at all? Darn it, I must have heard it wrong. ..... Many hours later (Yes, this is my actual thought process)...Oh, I get it! It was a joke. (Smile) Never mind......Emily Latella in person

I once wrote a funny article on the influence of Spanish on American English. I sent it to the magazine called American Speech. I wonder if they are still in business. They recommended I start a blog. As soon as i find that article, I will type it here. It might be more timely now. One of my friends who read it thought it might start a war between the Castillians and the others in Spain. Or perhaps it might offend some Hispanic people today. At the time I doubted it and still do.

Re: "Q"
If anyone who has read this blog before remembers previous posts about a neighbor I've called "Q", yes, I am still having problems with her. Rather than OD'ing on tranquilizers I've chosen to limit my contact with her as much as possible. I urge all that have "friends" who might as well be "enemies" to wisely consider cutting off or at least limiting contact with these people.
Slight change in wording needed in the first sentence (last post):
It would be impossible for us as human beings within a universe with certain dimensions and forms, to even pose the question, "Why is there something rather than nothing?" if, indeed, there could be nothing.
Reply to philosophers' question
It is impossible for us as human beings to even pose the question, "Why is there something rather than nothing?" much less write a whole essay or book around that.
Why? The answer is so simple, I wonder why others can't see it, or if they can imagine it, why they can't agree with it. We don't have the mental capacity, the neural circuitry to conceive of nothing. We might, with our limited knowledge, imagine nothing to be a huge, empty vacuum, but even that is something. We have no means to imagine what nothing would be! And if nothing could be, it would still be something, which is logically impossible. That nothing would be a space in which nothing exists, and that space -- would it be somehow contained? -- would still be something.
THERE COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE NOTHING BECAUSE THERE'S ALWAYS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING! (Roseann Rosanna Danna kept telling us this.) Why is there not nothing? We are talking of impossibilities. It goes against all of natural law, all that we have obtained through research and all that we simply observe. Even a baby knows that there is something rather than nothing. To the baby, the Something Other than him/herSelf is Mother. He knows that immediately, upon taking his first breath. THE BABY KNOWS THAT HE CAME FROM THE MOTHER -- NOT FROM NOTHING! HE COMES INTO THE WORLD SEEKING THAT ATTACHMENT OF SOMETHING! The human (thinking) condition ("I think, therefore I am," homo sapiens, thinking man) is to be something. This is reality as we know it! And after all, it is we who are posing the question, isn't it?
The possibility of nothing is inconceivable by our limited capacities. Therefore how could there be nothing? To quote Stuart Wilde (and certainly others have said it), "It is what it is."

Questions!
1. If two people are both nobodies and they get together, could they produce a somebody?
2. If two people with half a brain get together, will they constitute a whole brain?
Upon reflection today, 8/29/16, I think the answer to both questions is probably "no."

Quitting Smoking? or not!
Noted that I did try to quit in July 2011 due to a bad bronchitis. Same thing happened this year, just about a week ago. It didn't last, though.
Well, it's a great day for America Again!
Craig Ferguson, my friend, it really is a great day for America! Just as I predicted, Obama won big-time!
We're getting over the devastating weather here in NY. Some people had a really bad time of it. Someone said it was good we had the storm, because it made Mike Bloomberg change his mind and endorse Obama just before the election, because he felt that O. was better prepared to face the problems of ecological changes going on than that miserable M. R. !!!!! But the storm was definitely not good for a lot of people!!!!!

It's a Good Day for America
eHello to whomever is reading this today. I have a friend here with me today, and she asked to see my blog,
her name is Martyla, so here I am again almost a year later writing nothing particular on this blog. The computer placed a red wavy line under Martyla's name, somebody should tell the computer it's a fine name.
I have been diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus, which makes me extremely tired at times, but after a few days it goes away. This last week was very rough. Two weeks actually. It came and went twice. Lasted 3 days each time. I revived with some electrolytes brought to me by a friend and some Jamaican roots brought to me by another friend. I am well and happy today, and it's a great day for America!

हाउ थिंग्स अरे now
Well, now is what now is. It sure isn't yesterday, and it won't be tomorrow. So, now. That's how it is. hello, Gertrude Stein.
Gertrude Stein was a much overrated nonsensicalist. But she had some important concepts. What I liked best was her concept of everything being cyclical - I love circles and have painted many paintings of circles overlapping and intertwining colors.
Her idea was or seemed to be, that all of life is a circle. Repeating circles throughout history. Circles of planets too. A circle is a circle is a circle, I guess you could say, eh Gertie?
I wish more people followed this blog. Maybe someday they will read it, after I manage to publish a book or something.

नोट गिविंग उप सिगारेत्तेस
Hello again blog-readers (2). Well I started smoking again after 8 days smokeless.
Getting along alright with "Q" - as long as I keep the upper hand with her. She tries to take over my life, after I invite her in she won't leave, etc.
Q, Q, Q! Part of my life already.
What else is there to report? I am feeling better - not depressed - and actually have been working on my poetry book for a change. I hope to have it finished by Jan. 2012 or sooner.
That's all for now, folks. Bedebedebede

Giving up cigarettes
No one ever said it was going to be easy. But today I finally did - quit smoking. A pretty bad bronchitis drove me to it. I still have my e-cigarettes and my nicorette gum.

"क्यू"
Lately my life is all about my neighbor, whom I'll call Q. I don't know why the title of this came out in another language, maybe Sanskrit or something, but I don't know how to change it so I'll just have to deal with it.
My neighbor is like a dill pickle. One pickle, okay. Too many pickles, not okay. Indigestion. Pickle (Q) wants to be around me all the time. Q always has an upset stomach or a headache or is too hot or has trouble walking. Q has a nasty little dog, which I'll say, to his credit, has never bitten me, but he has bitten her once or twice and also bit her mother frequently (the mother died in Dec. of last year, but not from a dog bite). The dog, in fact, seems to like me. Not so strange because every time I go over there I feed him crackers or something. One day I brought pork chops, which were too well done for Q, so he had a feast. I don't think he's forgotten that.
Q is a fine artist who has always painted on porcelain. I say, of all things, Q, why did you have to choose that? Imagine devoting your life to painting on porcelain! She says she used to make money at it once. Now she has all these lovely porcelain things that she can't get rid of. I offered to buy a painted clock for $20. That's about my limit.
The more I think about it, the more she is like a caricature. But then some of the finest people you'll ever meet are caricatures. Enough for now. I hope to write more about Q or something else tomorrow. Goodbye, all my fans (2).

Hello and welcome to the first Sunday of November. We are rolling our own cigarettes now - discovered we could buy the filters. The cigarettes are pretty good, but they keep going out and have to be re-lit. Especially in the wind. And they really make you and your clothes smell like tobacco. People cough as you walk by. Oh, well.

I want to get organized and clear out everything I don't need and create more space. My living room is very cluttered. What does it say about someone if they're a clutterer? First of all, things must be clean. Litter boxes cleaned frequently. Dishes washed. Those are number one things. Floors should be mopped. Cluttered spaces arranged better. It's hard for me to get rid of things. But I bought a new fan for the kitchen and a new litter box and threw out the old ones. With old magazines, I hesitate because sometimes I like to read the ones I never got to. It's kind of strange reading old news in the US News and World Report, but they have other articles that are very interesting. In the Reader's Digest I read something about diets, and they recommended eating pickles. I do eat pickles a lot. More than ever. Right now I like Mount Olive Kosher Baby Dills. I also love Vlasic pickles. And I love the pickle juice too. Strange how vinegar is good for your stomach. You wouldn't think so, would you? People say there is too much salt in the pickle juice, but I don't think so. I have to watch my blood pressure, but I love a little salt.
